Hale, Michigan

Hale is located in Lower Northeastern Michigan. We are located in Iosco County, within Plainfield Township about 20 miles inland from Lake Huron. The population of our town is 4,292. We have numerous lakes in Hale which makes our town very popular with tourists & boaters in the summer months.  Our lakes, ponds, streams and the Au Sable River offer some of the best fresh water fishing in the nation.  Hale is also the Gateway to the Huron National Forest, which provides winter sports enthusiasts with great opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

Iosco county is known as the Cross Country Ski Capital of Michigan, and is also a very popular place to hunt in the fall months. We are also home to the West Gate of the River Road Scenic By-way, one of the most beautiful rides you will ever take in the fall. If you live in Michigan or are thinking about visiting Michigan, remember Hale is a great place to live or visit!

In town, you'll find the best bacon at Alward's Market. Buy a pound (or two or three)

Fresh Bakery can be found at Kocher's Market. (Pronounced KO-kers, NOT Kawchurs)

If there is any gear you forgot, we have the friendliest people at these two stores.   Beth and Karla went to school with most of the employees so we know how great they are!
